YouTube What’s up! Karat Juice Podcast here for another video. We are doing a reaction to the new HBO drama series that just dropped today March 6th. I just got done watching it. And it is called winning time. And it is about the Lakers winning Showtime dynasty. And let me tell you, this HBO series was very entertaining for the first episode. So if you’re just coming on in do me a favor as it really helps out like the video, I don’t want to waste your time. So I’m gonna get right into my thoughts and reaction on HBO Max’s new series winning time. So first off the bat, the main thing that I enjoyed the most was the cinematography and how it was shot. There was a lot of grain in the shots, it really set the scene and the atmosphere for how Dr. Jerry buss who was played by Well, let me just give you this disclaimer as well. getting ahead of myself, I just want to get right into it. Spoiler alert, if you haven’t watched this already, you should go to HBO Max and check it out. Okay. So they set the scene very well. By depicting in showing Dr. Jerry Buss and his origin story on how he eventually became the owner of the Lakers. He had to put a lot of, you know, assets up and it was a whole backstory behind how he eventually purchased the Lakers. And during that time, we’re finding out about Magic Johnson. I’m going to share my screen here so you guys can see what what we’re looking at here. So the main two characters that we’re seeing here, let me let me show you this. The main two characters that we’re seeing here is the two here on on the screen. John C. Reilly on the left, and played Dr. Jerry Buss and Magic Johnson and he is cast. The guy is Quincy Isaiah is playing Magic Johnson. I’ll say this off the bat, the cast and how they’ve cast people thus far. Very well done. I really enjoyed the first episode, I was laughing. John C. Reilly. Reilly is one of my favorite actors when it comes to just like, comedic relief. And because I don’t know if you guys have seen it, but step by step brothers is one of my favorite movies. You know, did we just become friends? Yep. And his comedic timing and delivery. Perfect cast for Dr. Jerry buss. And I think a lot of people are going to enjoy this series because HBO out of all the other streaming platforms, media companies, when they do a series, I like that they it’s raw, like if there’s something that’s like kind of an adult scene, they’re going to show everything rather than kind of like, you know, being PC, which I enjoy, because it helps me to be able to relate more to the story, because it shows you know, narcotics, it shows, you know, bedroom fun, all those type of things, which can help me at least be able to connect more with the story because it’s just more visceral, more raw. And without giving too much away for somebody that happened and not see it. What I’ll say is, this series is shaping up to be one that is going to be very memorable. It’s going to go through the entire origin story of how to showtime Lakers guys started some of the drama and Bs in between. And I’m all for it. One tidbit and One fun fact that I thought was very awesome in this first episode was I didn’t know that the logo, Doctor No, not doctor. The logo Jerry Wes was such a stinker. I don’t know if they’re just doing this for comedic relief. But Jerry West was depicted as like not being a very fun guy as Kawhi Leonard was say, and

I just thought it I was laughing. There was some serious moment the acting is very high quality And I know a lot of people are going to be talking about this series. I highly recommend it. It looks like the episodes are going to come out every Sunday at nine. And they’re going to come out week by week, which is the main way that HBO usually does their series. And I think that’s the best way because it allows people to comment and react and kind of digest each episode week by week, rather than how some stuff comes out on Netflix sometimes and they give you the whole series right off the bat. So first thoughts. Excellent. Looking forward to seeing the next episode. If you are watching this right now, let me know what you thought about the first episode. Do you think oh, one negative that I have thus far. I played basketball in college. I didn’t play professionally or anything. I played semi pro a little bit but the quality of like the movements from the guys playing basketball right now. cringe, very cringe. I mean, like, we got people laughing and clapping and like being like, when people do like spin, layups. Like that’s the only like, con that I have that they need to get some better quality, basketball movements moving forward, and I think they will, I think they’re still trying to figure out what they want to do. But overall, I give it on a scale from one to 10. I gave it a solid eight for the first episode, as far as overall storytelling, overall entertainment value, comedy, authenticity when it comes to the cinematography and how they had like the film grain in there, and made it really look 70s. So yeah, that’s my thoughts on the first episode of winning time, HBO documentary, that’s going to be documenting the Showtime Lakers dynasty. So that’s been another video here on the Karat Juice Podcast channel. I don’t want to ramble on and if you enjoyed this content, do me a favor, as it really helps out and it’s free. If this is your first time watching the Karat Juice Podcast, I’d give commentary and perspective on popular culture dating, true crime, and I also add in productivity tips, and get it in where I fit in.
