The riveting and widely speculated Netflix documentary, The Tinder Swindler has caused an immense buzz online and brought up the topic of online dating, finesse culture, and the dynamics of money, power, and coercion between men and women with the emergence of online dating. Simon Leviev is the focal point of the documentary, he is the individual who was the antagonist of the story, however, is there more to Netflix’s Tinder Swindler than what lies on the surface level. It is my position that there is more context and nuance to Simon Laviev’s approach and how he was able to maneuver amongst the women in his life. Simply, he was successful because he understood the social dynamics between men and women. Commentary on Netflix Tinder Swindler which involves Simon Laviev, Cecilie Fjellhoy, Ayleen Charlotte, and Pernilla Sjoholm. Netflix’s Tinder Swindler is about a group of women who were the victims of a dating app-based swindler join together in an attempt to hunt him down and recover the millions of dollars that were stolen from them.
